“My Inner Wind” is a children’s illustrated album, written and illustrated by Tania Izquierdo, printed by Edelvives and funded by the Sonae Sierra group as a charitable and solidarity initiative, with 100% of the profits entirely donated to Fundación Aladina to support children with cancer and their families.
The project was presented on World Children’s Day and Children’s Rights Day at Luz del Tajo, Toledo (the hometown of its author, Tania Izquierdo) and, with a print run of 9,000 copies, will be distributed during the 2025–2026 Christmas campaign in 6 national shopping centers: Luz del Tajo (Toledo), Área Sur (Jerez de la Frontera), GranCasa (Zaragoza), Plaza Mayor (Málaga), Max Center (Barakaldo), and Valle Real (Santander).
The story speaks about the emotions we cannot see, that move within us, that sometimes scare us, but at the same time make us who we are. In this story, the protagonist has a wind inside her that blows without asking permission. And within that wind, she discovers a little bird that never stops singing and making noise. The wind symbolizes all those intense and overwhelming emotions we feel. And the hummingbird is that part, within the mental noise, that seeks to be heard.
The protagonist begins by trying to silence it, trap it, control it, hide it… But the transformation happens when she decides to stop and listen. Then she realizes that all that noise is not an enemy, but something she can turn into a song—a song that only she knows how to interpret.
The story is told in a highly symbolic way and can have many interpretations depending on who receives it and when it is read: it speaks about self-acceptance, intense sensitivity, neurodivergence, the fear of being or feeling different, anxiety… It invites each family to see themselves reflected and find their own interpretation.
This story does not aim to “teach,” but rather to open doors and spark questions. It is created to open a space where people can talk without rushing. And this is the most important and special aspect of the project: “My Inner Wind” is designed to be a shared reading experience. So that parents, teachers, psychologists, therapists… can use it as a tool or guide for support, and as an excuse to talk about what can be difficult to name.
A book that invites you to read and observe it slowly, to ask ourselves questions and ask our children questions. Questions such as: do you also feel a wind inside full of emotions? Do you feel different from other children? In what way do you feel different? What does this wind mean to you? What does it sound like? This entire path it opens up is what makes the story so meaningful.
It invites us to create a present and shared reading moment between adults and children, helping to strengthen bonds and better understand them, while also helping them gradually understand themselves a little better, realizing that those differences they feel are what make them unique.
A mischievous wind, a hidden visitor within it, and a girl who gradually learns to listen to and understand herself.
This story speaks about the invisible, the different, and the chaotic things we all carry inside, which we can learn to love and make shine.
Welcome to our chaos!
